So according to my calendar, we’ve been playing tunes on our streaming radio for a little over a month now. So far, Boston Progress Radio has been doing well; we’ve been getting music from artists all over the United States. Without their help, BPR would be non-existent. So thank you. I always feel extraordinarily grateful when artists give us music to play. The funny thing is, the artists I’ve spoken to invariably thank us for their support. I suppose we have a mutually beneficial symbiosis. Kind of like the clownfish and the sea anemones?
Speaking of artists, we have new music from three artists today. We’re playing some music off Kite Operations‘ new release Heart Attacks: Back to Back. We’ve mentioned this album before, but we’ve only just got their music now. Read more

Kite Operations recently released their second full length album on K. O. A. Records. Personally, I’ve only heard a few tracks, but apparently it is every bit as good as their first album Dandelion Day. According to the folks at LMNOP:
Heart Attacks, Back to Back features the same sort of heady, puzzling compositions that can be found on this band’s previous album (Dandelion Day). Unlike many artsy bands that use the recording process as a diving board for pure experimentation, the folks in Kite Operations always manage to include enough genuine substance in their tracks to ensure the music holds up to many repeated spins.
Check out the full review at LMNOP. And oh yeah, pick up their album here.

1 commentKite Operations - Dandelion Day
I’ve been listening to Kite Operations‘ first full length album, Dandelion Day, for about a week now, and it continues to grow on me. I have to admit, I was totally intrigued when I read on their website that the band (which hails from NYC) chose its name to invoke “the illusion of control one has over one’s life, mirrored in the activity of ‘flying’ a kite, while one merely holds on to a thread.” Seriously? That’s pretty deep.
Their music is chill kite-flying music. The vocals are simple and not overstated. There are crisp little guitar melodies running through the tracks - accentuated with drums, feedback. Some tracks, like Head of Steam and Hardway are a little more rock, but others like Tracing Paths are perfect springtime music. It’s the kind of stuff I’d like to play on my ipod if I were cruising down by the Charles on my bike, you know, if I did stuff like that.
