Ayo, we may as well do this now…

This happened about two weeks ago - or for the literalists, last year - and we didn’t post it up cuz it’s a personal thing. But seems like enough time has passed and the word is out.

So there’s really no better way to start a new year: Congrats to Brother Bambu and Krish.

And peep bambu.la to download “Cake in 08,” featuring Bam ripping the “Roc Boys” beat to shreds.

Best wishes to everybody, hope we’re all in a better place one year from now.

The following message is an uncreative message about new music that is playing on Boston Progress Radio. But at least the music we’re playing is decent.

Christina Chung is an R&B singer from New York City. She’s got a new single out called “Prove It.” I’m not sure what to say about it, except that it sounds like what you’d hear on the radio. Funny thing though, she’s recently been talking about running around New York City naked and thinking about taking her music in a new direction.

Monolidic is a new indie rock band out of Los Angeles, California. I don’t know too much about them, except that they kind of sound like an early The Cure. We’ve got their single entitled “Delirium Tremens” playing on the radio. They have other tracks that sound pretty good too on Myspace.

Seriously. We’ve talked about this band before. They had their own online reality show. They’ve been getting mad Internet press from Angry Asian Man. They have a music video for their song “Irony.” They do rock and roll. We’ve got all the new songs from their latest EP “Seriously” playing on the radio. Their music is pretty down to earth, so enjoy!

The Seriously EP is being released by the Chaos Theory Music label started by Woody Pak. Woody is not only a producer, but also a very accomplished musician and we are pleased to be able to play some of his music here on Boston Progress Radio. He recently released a new album entitled “Hyped Urban Remix.” It’s funk meets urban rap.

Oh yeah and we’ve also got a new remix of Bambu’s “Pull It Back”. This track comes courtesy of Proper Speaks.

Tune in and keep on supporting independent Asian American music.

…don’t give a f**k about a badge, I got quick hands…

I just wrote a long, drawn-out anecdote about a mildly-confusing moment in 2005 when the Native Guns were in Boston, and Bambu happened to meet a local performer named Bambuu on the street. Then I reread what I wrote and realized that by trying to write the story out, I had removed all the humor. So just imagine that this first paragraph is a recounting of that day, and that you’re giggling about it right now.
