Dear BRPLive, what’s your new year’s resolution?
Happy new year! You may have noticed that we’ve been on a holidays (holidaze?!) hiatus, but we’ve got a bunch of great stuff in the pipeline that you’ll see here soon!
I’m not too familiar with API*-specific ways to celebrate and kick off the new year (anyone care to share some?), but it seems like new year’s resolutions seem to be a mainstream US tradition. If you’d like to share your resolutions for 2010, please tell us what they are in the comments section of this post!
From what I’ve gathered during some of the time I’ve spent in Japan, it seems like folks there do something similar to start off the new year; apparently people will choose 漢字 (kanji) to consider for the year, a word expressing something you want to think about or work on for the new year (if I’ve gotten that wrong, please let me know!). For example, you might choose 勇気 and consider throughout the year what courage means, how you are and can be courageous and how others around you are corrageous. Just wanted to share a tradition from outside the US…

1. Exercise more
2. Complain less and be less angry.
3. Stay in touch with family and friends.
1. honor what is already existent in my life and look for its endless potential (including the abstract, i.e. ideas, things said, sentiments, experience, history, etc.)
2. be less greedy with life (i.e. do not try to hoard experience, knowledge, love)
3. live with fierce self-respect (“body is temple” sort of logic)

i used to make lots of resolutions, on random days. because any day you decide you want to better yourself, you should!
my theme of 2010 is intention.
i’m at a point where i am trying to focus and apply- be active with my decision making- leaving behind thoughts of regret and should’ves.
