Sam Yoon: a holistic, accountable and transparent approach

Sam Yoon sticker I was late to this political party.

Yesterday, I unwittingly ended up at a campaign event for Sam Yoon apparently well after it started (pretty much all the food was gone), and to be honest, I haven’t been engaged in Sam Yoon’s mayoral aspirations for various reasons. As ChunFai mentioned earlier, Sam Yoon is running for the office of mayor in Boston, and while that news enthused me, hesitation lingered (partly for the reasons ChunFai mentioned). As Sam Yoon spoke energetically to the Sam-Yoon-sticker emblazoned crowd in a cozy Harvard Square venue yesterday evening, I found that hesitation dissolving. The way Sam Yoon talks about reinvigorating Boston is exciting, yet specific and focused too. It almost feels like he’s taken ChunFai’s advice. Allusions to President Obama are still present in the discussion but seem to be generally in good context, like the one in this podcast.

Sam Yoon presented us with a vision of now separate aspects of the Boston government working together to strengthen the city’s safety, commerce, health and more with accountability and transparency. In this minimally edited podcast, you can listen to two of his responses to questions about transparency and public transportation that convey some of his vision. You can find out more about Sam Yoon’s campaign at SamYoon.com.

[ Disclaimer: Boston Progress Radio does not endorse Sam Yoon. This blog entry was posted in hopes of sharing the author's impressions of this campaign event and allowing readers and listeners to form some of their own impressions from audio recordings from it. ]

No… Thanks to one of our mutual friends, I just happened to be in the crowd… BTW, shortly after putting up this post, I heard from a reliable source that Sam Yoon plays the drums! I can’t help but think it would be awesome if he dropped by Open Orchestra!

So are you sure we can post that?

Also, he plays the piano – he and Felix jammed togther at a party. I didn’t know he played drums.

Anyway, I think we should be really REALLY sure we can post that audio.

No, I’m not sure we can post this audio, but the event as I understood it was open to the public, and I’m all for citizen “reporting”. But indeed, there may be legal issues here that I am unaware of that justly inhibit us from posting blog entries and podcasts like this. If anyone strongly objects to this post for a good reason, I will remove it.
