East Meets Words 6/8 - Part 2 of 2
East Meets Words 6/8 - Part 2 [20:24m]: Here is Part 2 of last Friday night’s open mic. These clips include some poems by Ching-In, as well as the beat working of Boston Progress’s own David Kong. Theresa Vu from Magnetic North joined the cypher, as well as East Meets Words resident MC Victor (aka doctor skool) and guest MC Amon.
There were kiddies in the audience (including one of bpr’s own babies) so the MC’s tried to keep it PG.
Of the words thrown out for the MC’s to rhyme, parallax was tossed at tVu. I don’t know where that came from, but she broke it down in rhyme. I looked it up and sure enough:

the apparent displacement of an observed object due to a change in the position of the observer.

just for the record, i don’t care if folks throw around curses around my kid. i’d rather her hear swears in politically minded asian american art, than some of the fucked up shit she’s already heard in her life… (someone once called her a china doll. i was floored. that’s fucking racist.)

Also, Ching-In is going to UCR next semester, I told her I’d connect her with you at the open mic but neglected to.
And as long as you don’t mind curses zooming thru the air around your kid, you may as well bring her to next month’s open mic - Yellow Rage feature!
